I first saw the Sally Hansen Salon Effects at Target several weeks ago – at the time they were 8.50 – but I’ve seen them for as much as 9.99 and 10.50. I almost got two but decided it would be better to test one and see how it went. I didn’t try them for ages, mostly because it seemed like something I would very easily mess up – I was SO wrong. The instructions were perfect – it comes with a cuticle stick and mini nail file. I will admit I was so excited when I first put them on that I left off one step and didn’t wrap the tips on my left hand which happens to be the hand you see on a semi-regular basis – so please keep that in mind when you see days 3 and 4.
I know there have been several reviews, videos, and pictures of this line (and especially Laced Up) – so I skipped the proper review technique of taking a picture of the container, it’s contents, and taking pictures of each step – that’s more Alli’s style than mine anyway.
This is already a long review so if you want more pictures and more rambling and my final thoughts on this product see below
Okay – SO after I applied it I seriously could not believe how good it looked – it looked sooo professional and fun and different – I’m not big into nail art, I suck at water marbling, and half moon manis frustrate me – so this was something very different for me. I got tons and tons of compliments – which I often do with my nails – but from people who don’t usually notice them and even total strangers.
Here’s Day 3:
You can start seeing a little tip wear here – but I really want to emphasize that I had zero wear showing on my right hand – it’s super important to follow that “wrap the tips” step. Additionally – since the base of this design is nude – the wear that was there really wasn’t noticeable at all, except for me…. and my camera.
Finally we have Day 4…
No real difference from D3 to D4 – and I also wanted to be sure to say that I did everything as usual – I cleaned, I exfoliated, I cooked, did laundry…
Now maybe you want to know why I didn’t continue past day 4…. Well it’s because I finally found Black Shatter and I just couldn’t wait to try it
Summary: Sally Hansen’s Salon Effects are amazing – I cannot wait to try another – so cute, so easy (10-15 min per hand tops – and I’m slow at everything) – you could probably go through all the steps in 30minutes or less once you get it down. I wanted to be sure to do it right. I probably wouldn’t try the standard neon colors – not special enough – but I will definitely be buying more of the patterned ones and probably a glitter or two. Go get ‘em!
Have you tried any? What do you think? Which one should I try next? Ahhhhh! Love.

I would like to try these…BUT, it sounds like too much work.
I guess I’m just too “old school” and not willing to branch out into cool things.
It really was so insanely easy – I can’t even express how easy it is – you should def. give them a shot
I’m actually glad you didn’t wrap one hand, I have TINY nail beds so I keep my nails pretty short– almost too short to wrap with regular nail color. I might give these a try after reading your post.
Woops, I forgot to ask my question: how thick are the decals? I’m wondering if they’ll drive me crazy or not.
I keep my nails pretty short too – just kind of pull them over the ends and then file and you’ll be good
Really, if I can do this anyone can
Also – not thick at all – unnoticeable as far as thickness once they’re on – just like nail polish.
Which one do you think you’ll try? I can’t wait to try another one

I finished mine with a clear coat over the top and around the edges. They stayed on for 2 weeks. They were actually fine after 2 weeks, I just wanted a new color!
I wish I had the patience to wear something for 2 weeks! That’s fantastic! I have a few more waiting to try out and I can’t wait to try some of the new designs!
